Karuizawa Distillery – Karuizawa Whisky (Totsuka Shuzo)

Mercian Karuizawa Distillery that was owned by Daikoku Winery, closed their history in 2012 after passing through several mergers. However, the whiskey produced at the distillery has received high praises since its closure, there are many people who are looking forward to return of the whiskey of “Karuizawa”.
Karuizawa Whiskey Company is led by Shigeru Totsuka who is the 16th generation brewer of Totsuka Brewery Co.
The company invited Osami Uchibori, the last malt master of Mercian Karuizawa Distillery, as an advisor. Yoshiyuki Nakazato, a whisky distiller, was invited as the factory manager. It was decided to start production of new Karuizawa whiskey at the Karuizawa Whiskey Distillery under the prom.
