Kuju Distillery – Tsuzaki Corporation

Kuju Distillery in Taketa City revived by whiskey distiller. Nikka Whiskey Kyushu factory closed in 1999, so It’s the revival after 20 years. The person in charge of Kuju Distillery is Mr Shoji Utoda, who is well known Fukuoka Whiskey Talk. He runs Tsuzaki Corporation and organize Fukuoka Whiskey Talk, He has exclusive sales rights for show bottles. Kuju Distillery has an annual production capacity of 70,000 liters same level as a small craft whiskey distillery in Japan. This is a dream of 51 years old Mr Utoda for 30 years. When he was 22 years old, he had whiskey at a bar in Miyazaki for the first time and fell in love with it right away. Mr Utoda has been learning know-how at the Chichibu Distillery since 2017 to prepare for his own distillery. He aims for light and fragrant taste like Speyside.
